New variable Chargelift for flexible charging of SBRS at ALDI SÜD in Rastatt

At ALDI SÜD in Rastatt, the following installation can currently be viewed from the street. There are no chargers in the way when reversing the trucks when driving backwards to the ramps. Instead, there are three large cantilever arms with a flexible charging solution. This is a new version of our so-called Chargelift.

As a reminder, the Chargelift was developed to conveniently lower CCS cables from above so that they do not hang down from the ceiling or a pole and possibly cause collisions in the truck lane. In addition, a bulky unwinder or roller should be dispensed with. The latter is not possible anyway if the CCS cables are liquid-cooled, as here at ALDI SÜD.

The special feature in Rastatt: The charge lift itself can be moved a few meters! The reason for this is fire protection. The vehicles should not only be charged when they are standing at the ramp and being loaded and unloaded, but also when they are parked. In this case, however, the requirement applies that the truck must be parked at a greater distance from the ramp. To ensure this can be done without any problems, the charge lift must be movable. All of this can be achieved with a pull rope, as the impressive installation on site shows.

The cooling units for the liquid-cooled CCS cables are mounted on the booms, as the installation will have a charging capacity of up to 375 kW in future (currently 250 kW). Charging with up to 500 A will then be possible via the CCS cable (currently: 330 A).

The chargers and a small transformer station are located on the other side of the yard in a fenced-off area; the cables to the cantilever arms were buried across the yard. All in all, a comfortable solution for truck drivers.
